The Norfolk Coast is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Britain today and surprisingly not as busy as you would expect. Comparable in beauty and appeal as the Dorset and Devon coast, however Norfolk is much easier on your wallet.
Norfolk accommodation is varied and cost effective, for instance high season a cottage that sleeps 4 can be found quite easily for between £400 and £500 either on the coast or slightly in land. The georgian town of Holt is a nice place to stay for accessibility to a large stretch of coast all within about 20 minutes.
If you are looking for Norfolk accommodation such as self catering, bed and breakfast or hotels, or Norfolk accommodation in lodges, chalets or caravans then please view our accommodation section. Alternatively please view Cromer accommodation, Sheringham accommodation and Great Yarmouth accommodation directly.
The web site currently on has sections for Cromer, Sheringham and Great Yarmouth however this will be upgraded and expanded in the near future.
Cromer is at the North Easterly most point on the Norfolk Coast. It has a superb stretch of coastline separated at intervals by wooden groynes. The sea is warm here and most of the time is great for swimming. A life guard is present for a small stretch of the beach for swimming safety.
Cromer is well known for its 'Cromer Crab' and this is very tasty and popular, and it has to be said that the ice cream and fish and chips , whether it is just because of being at the coast, taste so much better here. Its great to eat whilst sitting on Cromer Pier or overlooking the sea from many of the seats above the beach.
Sheringham whilst slightly smaller than Cromer, is a very nice coastal town where the shops and town centre meander from the large open car park and train station down to the beach and sea.
Like Cromer, Sheringham has little side streets, nooks and crannies to explore with some great and unusual shops, some of which can be found online.
Sheringham is also not far from Cley Next-The-Sea, Blakeney and also Wells Next-The-Sea so there is a good choice of other locations to visit.
On our visit we were lucky to catch the tail end of the annual Sheringham Carnival seeing the classic and sports car exhibition by the coast, and the carnival evening parade and fireworks..
Please visit the Sheringham section of the web site for more information.
Great Yarmouth is out of this world. This large destination has one of the most superb family friendly coasts in Britain. The promenade has superb wide pavements with plenty of space for walking and the beach stretches for miles.
Great Yarmouth has so much for all the family with popular attractions such as the Sea Life Centre which has the walk through tunnel under swimming sharks, to Amazonia, the reptile zoo, and of course the fun fair with the Yarmouth Eye and the ever popular log floom.
Yarmouth is clean, unhurried and the arcades and attractions along the seafront contain the children looking to make a shilling or two or set the fastest lap on the latest console based arcade racer.
Like Cromer, Great Yarmouth has a section of beach cleaned daily and life guard attended so it is family safe and friendly. Great Yarmouth is one of the cleanest, enjoyable and welcoming places you could choose for your break or annual holiday.
Please visit the Great Yarmouth section of the web site for more information.
