Welcome To Cromer

Cromer

Cromer Pier extends seaward from this delightful seaside town. A sandy beach overlooked by eroded cliffs stretches into the distance both sides of the pier with the town just behind and central to the pier.

Cromer, well known for many things, one of which is the Cromer Crab, a delightful fresh dressed crab available from most food places in the locality. The fish and chips here are superb as you would expect with superb fresh fish with crispy tasty batter!

Cromer has two museums, a three screened cinema and of course, Cromer Pier with shows throughout the summer months. The town remains a charming and quaint retaining a distinctly historic feel with side roads and streets with small and interesting shops.

The lifeboat station here is a main one sitting at the end of the pier and quite impressive in its own right. The lifeboats, according to the Cromer Chamber of Trade web site, have been rescuing people for over two hundred years which makes this a very important rescue service.

Cromer, in my opinion, is one of the most attractive seaside resorts in Britain today. It is both clean and accessible with more than adequate parking and for those that prefer the more livelier atmosphere Great Yarmouth is less than 45 minutes away by car.

Events

Cromer has some worthwhile events each year.

Cromer Carnival / Festival, held in August is also a week long, and on a different week to the annual Sheringham Carnival. The annual Autumn Garden Show also takes place in Cromer in September.

Cromer Carnival will be held from 15th August - 21st August 2009.

Out & About

Shopping in Cromer is a relaxed and unhurried affair, although most of the shops here are small, they have an excellent stock of items as you would imagine including seaside shops selling windbreaks, bodyboards and much more.

The high street has high street shops including a large Boots store and other high street stores such as Woolworths.

Cromer Pier and the Pavilion Theatre are at the very centre of entertainment in Cromer offering shows and of course an ideal place to go crabbing... numerous people grab their twine and crabbing bucket and head for the pier on a summers day.

Golfers will of course delight in playing at the Royal Cromer Golf Club and only a few miles up the road is Sheringham golf course. Both as you would expect are full 18 hole golf courses in superb condition.

For food, just past the pier on the left hand side is a superb cafe that serves delicious lunches, with a modern and open balcony where you can enjoy your food and drink in a quiet and tranquil location watching people come and go and listening to the sea brushing the sand. Recommended, absolute bliss!
